New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum batted through the fourth day of the second Test against India in Wellington to continue a remarkable fightback. Resuming on 114, McCullum finished unbeaten on 281 - the second highest Test score by a New Zealander - as the Kiwis made 571-6 to lead by 325. He and wicketkeeper BJ Watling (124) added 352, the highest sixth-wicket stand in Test cricket history. Debutant Jimmy Neesham (67 not out) helped McCullum through to the close.
