Hart 'will not start' for England
Posted by Undercover 999 on Thursday, 14 November 2013
Joe Hart will not start England's friendly against Chile at Wembley on Friday, Roy Hodgson has confirmed. The manager refused to reveal which of John Ruddy and Fraser Forster will replace the Manchester City goalkeeper. Rickie Lambert is the latest to be ruled out after picking up an injury in training on Thursday. The Southampton striker joins Steven Gerrard and right-back Kyle Walker on the sidelines. Chelsea's Frank Lampard, 35, will captain the side in Gerrard's absence. Mancster United duo Michael Carrick, 32, and Danny Welbeck, 22, have already withdrawn from Hodgson's squad for both the Chile match and Tuesday's friendly against Germany with Achilles tendon and knee injuries respectively. Hart played in all 10 of England's World Cup qualifying matches but recently lost his place in the City side to Romanian Costel Pantilimon after a series of mistakes. Hodgson would not be drawn on whether Celtic's Forster, Norwich's Ruddy or both goalkeepers will be given a chance to impress in Hart's absence. "I will make that decision on Friday," he said. Ruddy won his only England cap coming on as a half-time substitute in England's 2-1 win over Italy in August 2012, but has conceded 15 goals in his last five matches for the Canaries. Forster, who also played for Norwich while on loan from previous club Newcastle, has impressed in the Champions League for Celtic but is yet to make his England debut. The 25-year-old was dubbed 'La Gran Muralla' (the Great Wall) by the Spanish press after playing a big part in Celtic's 2-1 win over Barcelona last season.
