Tour de France route is revealed

Bradley Wiggins looks to have a tougher job of defending his Tour de France title than winning it after details of the 2013 route were announced in Paris. The 32-year-old became the first Briton to win the prestigious race this year, taking the yellow jersey ahead of Team Sky team-mate Chris Froome. But the 2013 route is more mountainous and may favour climbers such as Alberto Contador and Andy Schleck. Stage 18, for example, features two climbs up Alpe d'Huez. Next year's race - the 0th edition - will begin on the French island of Corsica on 29 June and end with an evening finish on the Champs-Elysees in Paris on 21 July with the riders having cycled 3,360km. The length of the time trials in the 2013 edition of the Tour have been reduced to 65km from 100km in 2012.
